In the words of the Americas horror & supernatural fiction author Stephen King “The scariest moment is always just before you start. After that, things can only get better.” And I believe he is right.
Right here, right now, you are starting a new thing. You are a pioneer, in the midst of unknown territory, forging a way off of sheer gut instinct and will power. No matter if you’re terrified, or beyond excited to start a blog, you should be immensely PROUD because you are HERE NOW!
You are taking real, tangible steps toward researching and investing in your dreams. You’re betting on YOURSELF! Your efforts will not return void, that I promise you.
If it’s one thing I’ve noticed about starting something new, it’s that our brains are very skilled at coming up with 1 Million reasons as to why we shouldn’t do something. You know what I mean? How suddenly all of those thoughts that we know aren’t true start creeping in, and slowly convince us as to why our gut instinct is no longer “A GOOD IDEA.”
I call these little sabotaging thoughts LIMITING BELIEFS, and I can’t tell you how MUCH I hate them. They are nothing but nasty little lies, and if left unchecked, will stop us from stepping into our calling and living our lives to the fullest!
So, as your blog coach and guide, I’m here to SLAY some of the most common myths or LIMITING BELIEFS around starting a blog.
Truth #1: Blogging is for everyone. Telling your story and inspiring others in their journey is for Everyone. You don’t have to be a “writer” you just have to be a storyteller.
Truth #2: UM – well that is just completely false. Blogging is not dead. In a recent study, it was found
“In 2018, 71% of B2B buyers said they consumed blog content during their buyer’s journey, up from 66% just one year prior, and marketers confirmed this, rating blog articles the most effective content format in the awareness stage.”
According to CMI and MarketingProfs
And despite all of the naysayers, a recent poll from Databox even found that:
“68% of marketers find blogging more effective than they did two years ago.”
Databox
No matter what you may think about blogging, the statistics speak for themselves.
Truth #3: I believe that everyone carries a unique reflection of God. Something that does not exist anywhere else on this earth. You are a piece of that light, and when you shine and tell your story it is able to connect with someone differently than if they heard a similar story from someone else. YOU are the magic. Sure, there are other blogs out there, but NONE OF THOSE BLOGGERS ARE YOU, BOO!
That is your POWER.
Truth #4: Seasons come and seasons go, but your willingness to find small pockets of time to share your story is what will make the biggest difference over the long run. Small steps over time. That is what we are going to do together, and I promise you, it will work. Don’t give up!
Truth #5: You don’t have to be at the finish line to help someone else along their journey. You only have to be a couple steps ahead. Just ask my friend Tiffany, she enrolled in my 1:1 BlogLike a Boss Mastermind (contact me here for more Perennial Mastermind details) because she had a passion for natural hair, and wanted to help other black women take care of and maintain theirs. She personally went through the transition process, and knew just how hard it was. Now on the other side, and in LOVE with her locks, she is creating content that is empowering other women, and educating them on their transition.
SHE IS AN EXPERT!
